For as long as Ryan Greene could remember, he dreamed of being a physician for a professional sports team. He knew his 12+ years of comprehensive schooling would allow him to achieve this so he put his head and went to work. Little did he know that his career goal would soon change. He began to first hand witness the professional and private lives of many doctors and he noticed patterns that didn’t align with who he was. He saw his role models working 80-100 hours a week, sacrificing their time spent with their family and friends; sacrificing their health and well being; and sacrificing what they truly believed in to follow a system that wasn’t getting patients well. He knew this life wouldn’t satisfy him. He knew he didn’t want to be another statistic facing physician burn out. He knew there were pitfalls in the medical system that had to be repaired so he took a risk- he chose to breakaway from the paradigm to fix these problems affecting people’s wellness globally. He moved from Chicago to Los Angeles with a purpose that revolved around his passion- to create a way that people can experience their happiest and healthiest life disease-free so they can do exactly what they want for as long as they want and not be inhibited by illness. Fast forward five years later, through sacrifice, dedication and relentless pursuit, his mission is becoming a reality through Monarch Athletic Club, a comprehensive health and wellness facility with programs built on the foundations of movement, nutrition, recovery, mind, body and medicine. In this episode, Ryan shares how he is changing the face of the medical industry worldwide; the importance of living by, “If it’s to be, it’s up to me.”; how doing something that has never been done (in any industry) can be scary but so worth it; the process of him coming to a realization that his dream job wasn’t really his dream job; and how each of us have the ability to create something revolutionary in our lifetime!
